Detroit Pistons Receive: G Tomas Satoransky, F Josh Hart, C Jaxson Hayes, UTA 2022 2nd Round Pick (via NOP), MIL 2025 1st Round Pick (via NOP)

Not only is Jerami Grant’s name coming up in trade rumors for the Pistons, but veteran big man Kelly Olynyk is also someone to keep an eye on in Detroit as the NBA trade deadline nears.

Kelly Olynyk has been sidelined since facing the Houston Rockets on November 10 after he suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his right knee, but he was available in the Detroit Pistons’ loss to the Suns on Sunday and should be ready to return to action this week.

The 30-year-old big man signed a three-year, $37.1M deal with the Pistons this past offseason after drawing interest from a few different playoff threats.

After averaging 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and shooting 34.2% from three-point range last season with both the Heat and Rockets, Olynyk has continued to be a dual-threat big man in terms of rebounding and shooting for the Pistons this season, hence why the New Orleans Pelicans could look to target him along with Jerami Grant for more frontcourt depth.

Sacrificing Josh Hart would be a big loss to the Pelicans both from a youth standpoint and a contributing standpoint given that he is a very versatile scorer and rebounder on the wing, but both Tomas Satoransky and Jaxson Hayes are two players the Pelicans are open to moving on from.

New Orleans is not a playoff “contender” per say, but they can definitely sneak into the playoffs this season if they were to add more talent to their roster. Leveraging some future assets for “win-now” guys like Jerami Grant and Kelly Olynyk may not only help them make the playoffs, but appease both Ingram and Williamson as well in the long-run.

As for Detroit, both Grant and Olynyk remain on the trade block this season and trading them both could bring a handful of future value to the Detroit Pistons.

Tomas Satoransky is nothing more than a veteran contract that the Pelicans would absorb for the rest of this season, but Josh Hart, Jaxson Hayes and draft compensation could really help the Pistons advance their rebuild.

Hart would be a key rotational player on the wing with Saddiq Bey and Hayes would fill an immediate hole the Pistons have in their frontcourt next to Isaiah Stewart.

With both Josh Hart and Jaxson Hayes being under contract past this season and on affordable deals, they could be exactly what Detroit is looking for if they were to give up both of their veterans in a trade at the deadline.
