How This Deal Impacts Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets are an elite offensive team, but they leave a lot to be desired defensively. Until they can figure things out on that end of the court, their ceiling will be limited as they cannot get stops when they need them most.
Acquiring a player such as Myles Turner would help them turn around things on defense instantly. He is an elite rim protector which would provide the Hornets with an anchor on that end of the court that they are currently missing.
Turner also isn’t a slouch offensively. While he didn’t have the biggest role with the Indiana Pacers, he is capable of doing more than just standing around the 3-point line as a spot-up shooter. He is a good floor spacer but has shown he is capable of more.
Oshae Brissett will help add some depth to the frontcourt that Charlotte would be missing by trading away P.J. Washington and Mason Plumlee. He is versatile enough to play either forward spot and has even played some minutes at center when the Pacers were short-handed.

For the Hornets, acquiring Turner without surrendering a draft pick is a good deal. But, they are parting ways with two of their high-upside youngsters in James Bouknight and Washington. With a contract extension looming for Miles Bridges, the Hornets may not be able to afford to keep all of their young players.
Instead of losing Washington for nothing, they flip him, Bouknight and Plumlee for an upgrade in the middle with Turner.
