Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
This is a weak trade return for the Portland Trail Blazers and certainly would be where the three-team scenario falls apart, and in a hurry. Parting with Damian Lillard would not be something the organization wants to do and they’d need to be given an offer they can’t refuse, unless he were to ask out.
Without a trade package that features draft assets, the players coming back in return would need to be extremely appealing to the Trail Blazers organization.
The potential that Anfernee Simons has been showcasing as of late should make him the priority in the backcourt if the plan was to undergo a full-scale rebuild. As a result, any deal made involving Damian Lillard should have a fair amount of consideration given to fit with Simmons.
Is Tyrese Maxey the level of player the Trail Blazers want in return for Lillard as the centerpiece of a deal? It’s hard to envision that being the case.
