Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Assuming they are unable to strike a deal for someone like Caris LeVert, who has a lot of fans in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ front-office, Eric Gordon is an excellent pivot option for Cleveland to target ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Not only does he bring years of experience as a high-level contributor on multiple championship contending teams in Houston, but Eric Gordon has been a steady presence on the offensive-end of the floor all season long.
He is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the league this season, but Gordon would solve a lot of the problems the Cavaliers have had with both Sexton and Rubio being out. Isaac Okoro is not really known to be a strong scorer on the wing and Cleveland has had to turn to guys like Cedi Osman and Lamar Stevens from time-to-time for depth.
Neither of these players have been bad and they have played their roles really well this season, but Cleveland is going to need another reliable contributor that they can pull into the game off-the-bench if they are to be anything more than a play-in tournament team.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Cavs Could Trade Ricky Rubio For Rockets’ Eric Gordon?
Currently as the 6-seed, the Cavaliers are projected to be in the play-in tournament, but things can change very quickly in a competitive Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers have a chance to make their first playoff appearance without LeBron James on the roster since 1998, but they will need a little bit more scoring talent to do so.
Eric Gordon is someone that they can afford to bring in by moving Ricky Rubio’s contract and his experiences will work wonders for this young Cavs team.
