Why The Los Angeles Lakers Must Pursue
The Los Angeles Lakers are going to make as big of a swing as they can ahead of the deadline. They are all-in on putting a winning roster around LeBron James in hopes of taking home another championship.
Of all of the players the Lakers could pursue, Jerami Grant is the one that fills the most holes on the roster. His versatility would be key for Los Angeles, as he would provide Frank Vogel a ton of flexibility when it comes to lineup construction.
Grant is capable of playing either forward spot and in a pinch can play some small-ball center. Defensively, he can defend virtually every position, as he is athletic enough to hold his own on the perimeter and has the size and strength to bang on the interior.
Offensively, Grant brings reliable perimeter shooting, something the team could certainly use more of. He is another player that creates offense for himself, providing support scoring behind the team’s Big 3. His presence should afford Vogel the chance to rest James, as Grant has shown he can be a go-to scoring option for his team.

Grant already has experience as an elite role player from his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. With Detroit, he showed he can shoulder the load. That kind of versatility is exactly what the team could use more of.
A closing lineup of Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk, Jerami Grant, LeBron James and Anthony Davis should have enough on both ends of the court to hang with almost anyone.
