New York Knicks Receive: G/F Caris LeVert, G/F Jeremy Lamb, C Myles Turner

Indiana Pacers Receive: F Obi Toppin, G Kemba Walker, F Kevin Knox II, G Evan Fournier, C Nerlens Noel, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2023 First-Round Pick (via DAL)

This takes the New York Knicks’ interest in acquiring Caris LeVert to another level. Indiana is reportedly looking to move him, but would also consider dealing one of their big men as well. Seeing an opportunity to upgrade multiple spots, the Knicks go big in this deal with the Indiana Pacers.

New York would have a modernized offense with Myles Turner taking over as the starting center. He provides elite rim protection defensively and someone that can space the floor on offense. New York is easy to defend in some scenarios because they do not have a center that can hurt opposing defenses, but that would change with Turner.

The Knicks also hit the reset button on the Evan Fournier signing, which hasn’t gone as smoothly as they had hoped. LeVert would step into the starting five, with Jeremy Lamb filling in on the second unit on the wing.

This would be a pretty costly deal. Obi Toppin has shown flashes of brilliance this season, but as long as Julius Randle is the starting power forward, his role will be a small one. This is a way to cash in on his value.

Kevin Knox II is only 22 and has some potential as a stretch-4 as well. The Pacers get a look at him as a long-term piece, but he is included mostly for salary reasons. Kemba Walker and Nerlens Noel are included for that reason as well.

The two first-round picks are compensation for giving up two good players in LeVert and Turner, but also for taking on Fournier’s contract. That greatly improves the Pacers’ long-term outlook, but they are getting back veterans that will help keep them competitive in the time being as well.
