How This Trade Impacts Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks need to shake things up. The roster is deep and they need to use that to their advantage. While targeting a frontcourt player likely isn’t the route many thought they would take, it is hard to turn down the chance to acquire a player of Anthony Davis’ caliber.
Acquiring Davis would enable the Hawks to shop one of John Collins and Clint Capela. Davis can play alongside either of them, so whichever nets the Hawks the best return package could be the off many out.
The Hawks are giving up a ton in this deal, but when broken down, it isn’t as much as you would think. They have not been able to count on De’Andre Hunter consistently, as he cannot stay healthy. Bogdan Bogdanovic is someone they have been looking to part ways with to clear some cap.
Onyeka Okongwu and the three first-round picks are a lot of assets, but with Davis in the fold, Atlanta is looking to win now. Delon Wright is on an expiring deal and was not part of their long-term plans.

There are still plenty of assets on the roster should Atlanta want to swing another deal. They have been doing a great job building the roster up and should look to cash in on those assets when possible. They do that in this scenario with Davis, who should help push them toward the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.
