How This Trade Impacts Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers at some point need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. When Anthony Davis was acquired, it was assumed that he would be the long-term face of the franchise. However, that may no longer be feasible.
The Lakers do not have much of a future foundation to look forward to. That foundation shrinks even more if they trade Talen Horton-Tucker. Realizing the harsh reality they have setting in, they change course and make Anthony Davis available in a trade.
The Atlanta Hawks come calling and the Lakers’ future outlook is improved a ton. De’Andre Hunter and Onyeka Ogonwku could be the building of a new foundation along with Horton-Tucker. The three first-round picks would also do that, should they all be kept and used.
Delon Wright will help bolster the second unit, bringing some shot-making but more importantly, he can provide an impact defensively from the point guard spot, something the Lakers are lacking. Bogdon Bogdanovic provides a scoring punch from the wing and is someone that fits in well alongside LeBron James with his 3-point shooting.

While the Lakers may not be as intimidating without Davis in the fold, the outlook of the team down the road is much better. They have some solid young players to build around or use down the road to bring another superstar to town as they did with Davis.
