The Charlotte Hornets are an explosive offensive team. They can score on pretty much anyone with LaMelo Ball leading the way as the point guard. He is an elite distributor and the Hornets have plenty of players that can put the ball in the basket.
Miles Bridges, Gordon Hayward, Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington, Kelly Oubre. They all average double-digit points per game. Charlotte needs those points every night because as easily as they score the ball on offense is how easy they make it for opponents to score on them.
The Hornets are lacking many players that get after it defensively. They provide very little resistance, ranking 25th in 3-point shooting percentage allowed and 29th in 2-point percentage allowed.
Targeting players that can help on the defensive end is what the Hornets need to do heading toward the NBA trade deadline to cement their place as a playoff team. Marcus Smart would assuredly help them on that end of the court.

Smart’s defense is what the Hornets would appreciate the most, but he also brings other intangibles to the table. He is a solid playmaker and his efficiency could improve with the offensive supporting cast he would be surrounded by.
