It would be tough to part ways with two of their best players and long-term building blocks, but an argument could be made that Anthony Davis does push them closer to winning a championship.
Miami saw first-hand what a dominant presence he could be in the Orlando Bubble in 2020 when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Heat for the title. That level of production may not be something the Heat will ever get from Bam Adebayo, who is surrendered as part of this deal.

P.J. Tucker is included to help match salary. What he brings to the court in toughness and experience is hard to replicate, but the Heat would have their pick of veterans and buyout candidates looking to chase a ring to help replace him.
The first-round picks would leave the Heat with basically zero draft capital in the future. However, if Davis were to help bring them a championship, that isn’t something they would worry about right now.
