How This Trade Impacts Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are staring down the barrel of what could be a very ugly future. They have exhausted all of their assets to build the team they currently have, leaving themselves without many options.
Once LeBron James is ready to move on or unable to perk the Lakers up as a contender, they will have to seriously consider moving on from Anthony Davis. Having him as the pillar of the franchise is nice, but when there is nothing else to build that pillar up with, the team is left in a quagmire.
Looking to avoid an extended absence in the doldrums of the league, Los Angeles makes Davis available and lands on this trade with the Miami Heat. All of a sudden, the long-term outlook of the franchise has improved considerably.
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, who are 24 and 21-years old, give Los Angeles a trio of high-upside youngsters alongside Talen Horton-Tucker, who is also 21, to build around. Adebayo and Herro have expensive playoff experience despite their young ages, which is always a positive.

The draft picks will help restock what are extremely bare cupboards in Los Angeles. Those picks can be used to bolster trade packages to land established talent or to add more youngsters to the mix.
