Boston Celtics Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Marcus Smart, G Aaron Nesmith, G/F Romeo Langford
This hypothetical deal was made over at Fadeaway World in a piece detailing five trades that NBA fans would love to see. It is not hard to imagine that Boston Celtics fans would get excited about this deal, but the same likely cannot be said for Detroit Pistons fans.
For years Celtics fans have seen some good players linked to their team, yet never end up there. The front office never pulled the trigger on a deal, but with Brad Stevens running the show now, things could be different.
In this scenario, they make a much-needed upgrade to the frontcourt, landing Jerami Grant. Grant is recovering from a thumb injury, which could enable the Celtics to sneak into the race to acquire him with this package.
Marcus Smart, Aaron Nesmith and Romeo Langford aren’t a huge package but could present some intrigue for the Pistons. Smart would help set the tone defensively, helping develop the young backcourt duo of Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes.

Desperate for shooting, Nesmith would alleviate some of those concerns. He was regarded as one of the best shooting prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft class. Langford has some potential, but being blocked on the depth chart and injuries have slowed him.
How does this deal impact both teams? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Celtics.
