About a month into the 2021-22 NBA season, the Washington Wizards were one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference record-wise and they looked like one of the biggest surprises of the season. Then, this team suddenly came back down to reality and they currently sit 18-18, good for the 8-seed in the East right now.
Over the years in the NBA, the Western Conference has always dominated in terms of talent and contending teams, as the Eastern Conference has primarily been top-heavy, but the script has been flipped this season.
Other than the Warriors, Suns and Jazz out West, it is really hard to pinpoint teams that could make a legit late season run.
In the Eastern Conference though, the Bucks, Nets, Bulls and Heat have all looked like real championship contenders this season with others like the 76ers, Cavaliers, Hornets and Celtics being tough, competitive teams to play.
