Bradley Beal needs more help once again
Three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal has once again been the catalyst on offense for this team, but his supporting cast regressed over the second month of the season.
Obviously, guys being in and out of the rotation due to health protocols affects the Wizards’ chances to succeed, but Kyle Kuzma has been inconsistent on the offensive-end of the floor, Montrezl Harrell’s scoring and rebounding numbers were down last month compared to that of November and Spencer Dinwiddie has not been the consistent second leading scorer this team has needed him to be.
Daniel Gafford has stepped up in the frontcourt, but who else do the Washington Wizards really have at this point? Deni Avdija and Corey Kispert are young players still looking to develop their talents at the NBA-level and both Rui Hachimura and Thomas Bryant have yet to play this season.
In order to be competitive in the Eastern Conference this year, you must have more than one star player, which is why team president and general manager Tommy Sheppard could be very active around the NBA trade deadline.

Moving Russell Westbrook and his contract for Kuzma, Caldwell-Pope and Harrell has worked out for the Wizards to this point, but this team is in desperate need of a second star next to Bradley Beal not only so they can try to make the playoffs and avoid the play-in tournament completely, but so they can have a shot at retaining Beal long-term.
Having one year left on his contract after this season, a $36M player option, Bradley Beal is most definitely already thinking about his future. While he has stated in the past that he likes being in Washington D.C. and playing with the Wizards, constant losing and lack of playoff success could very well weigh into the 28-year-old All-Star’s decision.

Finding another All-Star-level talent to pair with Beal is definitely a tough task for this Wizards’ front-office, but there may just be one player available that makes a lot of sense for them.
