Alfonzo McKinnie – Chicago Bulls
Some may remember Alfonzo McKinnie from him being on the Golden State Warriors during the 2018-19 season and seeing some minutes in the NBA Finals that year, but he kind of disappeared after that season.
McKinnie spent some time with the Cavaliers and Lakers following being with the Warriors, but he could never seem to keep a roster spot and as a result, he signed with the Capitanes de Ciudad de México in the NBA G-League after not earning an NBA roster spot this past offseason.
In 10 G-League games, McKinnie averaged 24.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and shot 45.2% from the floor, 43.3% from three-point range, hence why he earned a call-up to the Chicago Bulls when Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Coby White and others entered the league’s health and safety protocols.
Alfonzo McKinnie has only played in three games with the Bulls, but he has helped give them some much-needed production on the wing. In 3 games, the 29-year-old forward has averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and has shot 45% from the floor, 50% from long-range.

His sample size is small, but McKinnie has definitely helped give the Bulls some depth on the wing and with Patrick Williams out indefinitely due to a wrist injury, they need all the help they can get on the perimeter.
Due to his contributions on the floor and his willingness to play hard on both ends of the floor, the Bulls granted Alfonzo McKinnie a contract for the rest of the season following the expiration of his 10-day hardship contract.
The Chicago Bulls are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season and while McKinnie may not play much once they are fully healthy, they know that he can contribute when needed. Let’s not forget, the Bulls are also his hometown team as he’s from Chicago—adding to the story.
