Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers

History: The Brooklyn Nets are playing on Christmas Day for the 11th time, as they played last season, blowing out the Boston Celtics 123-95. They have a 5-5 record thus far. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 138-115 last season and have a record of 24-23. They have the most wins on Christmas Day of any franchise.

This game was supposed to be the headliner of Christmas. The two presumptive title favorites facing off on primetime on the biggest night of the NBA calendar. Unfortunately, it will not be as big of a draw as originally thought.

The Nets have 10 players in the league’s health and safety protocols, including Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Joe Harris is also sidelined with an injury. James Harden cleared protocol, so they will have one of their Big 3 in the fold.

The Lakers will have two of their Big 3 members as LeBron James and Russell Westbrook will be playing. Anthony Davis is sidelined with a strained knee and will be out for a few more weeks.

The Nets have done a good job navigating all of their shuffling, but the Lakers have not. This would be a big win for Los Angeles to help the team garner some confidence. James will also be looking to overtake Kobe Bryant on the all-time scoring list on Christmas Day, as he is only 12 points behind him right now.
