Would this trade make sense for the San Antonio Spurs?

There would be no value in the San Antonio Spurs taking on veteran players in terms of how it would help the franchise long-term.

Where the Spurs would need to be compensated for sending out a helpful player like Bryn Forbes would need to be in the form of draft compensation. A future first-round pick from the Lakers with no protections on it would be certainly an intriguing option for San Antonio.

Forbes is currently averaging just 14.7 minutes per game and isn’t a true long-term piece. If that type of player can net a first-round pick then it’s an easy decision to say ‘yes’ to get a deal done.

There are plenty of other perimeter players on the Spurs that moving Forbes could clear a bit of playing time for. One player who stands out, in particular, is Joshua Primo — San Antonio’s lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
