Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

To avoid having to rebuild, the Indiana Pacers are going to have to make some major changes to their roster this season. Trading Caris LeVert and/or Myles Turner still remains a possibility, but they should absolutely leverage Justin Holiday because he is nothing more than a role player for them.

While they would lose some production on the wing, T.J. Warren is getting ready to return soon and rookie Chris Duarte has played well enough to pick up the slack scoring-wise on the wing. As for Coby White, he is a key “sixth-man-like” player that this team could invest in.

Zach LaVine has been the only key producer and scorer for the Chicago Bulls prior to this season, but his No. 2 guy since being drafted 7th overall in 2019 has been Coby White. The 6’5” combo-guard can play with or without the ball on offense and his 35.2% career three-point shooting percentage is definitely eye-opening.

He is not the best three-point shooter, but White has shown the ability to score in many different ways, as well as be a playmaker for others. The young guard could take pressure off of Brogdon to be this team’s primary facilitator/ball-handler, as well as allow Sabonis to play through the low-post instead of on the perimeter as a secondary facilitator.

Giving up a first-round pick next year is risky, but it would be lottery-protected, so the Indiana Pacers would retain the right to the pick should they miss the playoffs. Flipping Justin Holiday for Coby White would surely be something the Pacers are interested in doing, as it gives them a young player to develop moving forward.
