The NBA is currently being hit hard by positive COVID-19 tests, which has thrown their calendar a bit out of whack. Not only are teams having games postponed, but the usual trade talk that begins heating up around this time has been slowed down as well.
There are two reasons for that, one being that teams do not know who they will even have available for their next game. Not knowing that makes it impossible to make trades, as rosters are in a current state of flux with players entering and getting out of protocols daily.
The second reason trade talks are slow is that there are so many teams in the running for a playoff spot or chance to play in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Right now there are only two teams, the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons, that are more than three games out of a spot.
As a result, figuring out who will be buyers and sellers is not easy. But, one team that sounds like they are looking to shake things up is the Indiana Pacers.
Recently, it was revealed that the Pacers were open to rebuilding. Owner Herb Simon clarified, saying it wouldn’t be a full teardown like the Philadelphia 76ers did under Sam Hinkie and the Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets look to be doing currently.
