Sacramento Kings

Targets: Ben Simmons (76ers), Jeremy Lamb (Pacers), Eric Gordon (Rockets)

You can do a lot of things with your life in 15 years. This sentence however does not pertain to the Sacramento Kings as an organization.

The Kings have missed the playoffs for 15 consecutive seasons and number 16 is right on the horizon! De’Aaron Fox is the only high-level talent on this team and while Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell are two promising looking talents in the frontcourt, Sacramento has a lot of problems to fix.

Moving Marvin Bagley III and Buddy Hield ahead of the trade deadline for value is something that will likely happen, but this team really needs someone like Ben Simmons. The Kings have not had a whole lot of talent through the years, which is why pairing Simmons with Fox is something they could not pass up on if given the opportunity by Philadelphia.

Simmons would be the “home run” acquisition for this franchise, but if they decide to hold onto Hield and Bagley to try and make a run to the play-in tournament, targeting two veterans like Jeremy Lamb and Eric Gordon could provide the Kings with some much-needed depth on the perimeter.

The Kings as an organization have shown no willingness to make the right moves through the years, which is why they will likely miss the playoffs once again and remain the laughing stock of the NBA.

San Antonio Spurs

Targets: Pascal Siakam (Raptors), Marvin Bagley III (Kings), Aaron Nesmith (Celtics)

The Spurs need to find their identity this season.

After moving on from DeMar DeRozan, Patty Mills and Rudy Gay in the offseason, the baton has been passed down to young talents like Dejounte Murray, Derrick White and Keldon Johnson. All three guys are really talented and promising looking players, but it is hard to pinpoint what San Antonio is good at and where they are going as a franchise.

They missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons the last two years for the first-time in franchise history and it should not be shocking to see them miss the playoffs for a third consecutive season.

The Spurs are rebuilding and it will take time for them to put things together, but going after a star like Pascal Siakam could push them ahead years in their rebuild. They could build around Siakam right away and he could be their All-Star, but the Spurs could also continue to add value with guys like Marvin Bagley III and Aaron Nesmith.

Whatever San Antonio decides to do ahead of the trade deadline, it will most likely not make a difference this season. Their only hope is to continue adding assets to find future success, something they have proven time-and-time again that they are capable of doing as an organization.

Toronto Raptors

Targets: Cam Reddish (Hawks), Marvin Bagley III (Kings), Bryn Forbes (Spurs)

Masai Ujiri has never been afraid to make big moves at the trade deadline and we should expect nothing less from the Raptors again this season. Health has been their biggest downfall so far this season, but they still find themselves in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Instead of rebuilding and giving up guys like Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, the Raptors could very well look to add some more youth to their roster with guys like Cam Reddish and Marvin Bagley III.

Reddish is available for the rest price in Atlanta and Bagley is a frontcourt piece that the Raptors were interested in trading for at the trade deadline last season. Bryn Forbes is another possibility to be on the move given his three-point shooting abilities.

Though he signed with the Spurs in the offseason, Forbes recently won a championship with the Bucks and is someone that can be relied on to hit multiple three-point shots per game off-the-bench.

If the Raptors are to add talent at the trade deadline, it will most likely be to bolster their bench, which ranks dead-last in the league in scoring.

Utah Jazz

Targets: Justin Holiday (Pacers), Josh Okogie (Timberwolves), Garrett Temple (Pelicans)

The Suns and Warriors overshadow the Jazz in the Western Conference right now, but Utah is still one of the best all-around teams in the NBA. With a great balance of offensive and defensive threats, the Jazz are definitely title contenders this season and not far off from having the best record in the league once again.

Donovan Mitchell has continued to grow into a superstar player for this team and Rudy Gobert is still one of the best defensive players in the league. The Jazz do not need much more on their roster right now, but Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that Utah is going to be “pursuing a defensive-minded wing” ahead of the deadline.

Justin Holiday has exhibited that he is a “3-and-D” wing over the years and both Josh Okgoie and Garrett Temple fit the mold of a “defensive-minded” wing as well. Okogie is in the final year of his rookie deal in Minnesota and could be acquired at a cheap price.

The same can be said about Garrett Temple, who is a respected two-way player on a small contract in New Orleans. At the price of one of their young players and a second-round pick, the Jazz could add more value to their roster with one of these three role players.

Washington Wizards

Targets: Pascal Siakam (Raptors), Kristaps Porzingis (Mavericks), Cam Reddish (Hawks)

The Wizards started the year really hot, but they have since cooled off. Bradley Beal can only do so much for this team and while adding Cam Reddish on the wing brings them some more value in terms of scoring, this team needs another All-Star-like talent.

Pascal Siakam and Kristaps Porzingis would both fill an immediate need in the frontcourt for Washington and both guys have proven that they are high-level talents over the years.

Given his two-way play, Siakam is probably the better choice of the two should Washington look to make a big move, but Porzingis has played really well this season in Dallas.
