Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

Jerami Grant is definitely a player the Philadelphia 76ers should want to add to their roster and while he may be the only key asset they would get back for Ben Simmons, this trade is completely worthwhile for several reasons.

First off, Ben Simmons does not want to be in Philadelphia anymore and if the 76ers’ front-office cannot realize this, then they are doomed for failure as an organization.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, yet the Sixers are trying over and over again to mend their relationship with Ben Simmons.

Why are they doing this you may ask? The only reason Daryl Morey and this front-office wants Ben Simmons to play is so they can call up other teams around the league and say, “Hey, did you see Simmons play on the floor last night? Did you see how well he played defensively? We want more value in a trade from you.”

The 76ers know that they do not want Ben Simmons long-term, so there is no reason for them to be making matters worse than they are right now.

I totally understand the thought process on capitalizing from his value and the 76ers should not be willing to accept a popsicle stick and a bag of popcorn for him, but at some point, they need to realize that other teams around this league are not dumb.

Some front-offices may be criticized here and there for moves they make, but if you have a job in an NBA front-office, you are a pretty smart person! Everybody can see right through Morey and Philadelphia right now, which is why Jerami Grant is probably the best player the 76ers could walk away with from this Ben Simmons situation.

They would get rid of a huge contract, save a ton of tax money in the process and could continue fighting in the Eastern Conference for a championship, so they really should not be demanding someone’s right leg and the rights to name their first born son/daughter in a trade involving Simmons.

At this point, Philadelphia has lost value on Ben Simmons in a potential trade, they are not going to get it back, so like 90% of us when at the casino in Las Vegas, they just need to stand up from the Blackjack table and cut their losses.
