New York Knicks Receive: G Malik Beasley, F Jake Layman
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Kemba Walker, F Kevin Knox II
One of the biggest question marks on the New York Knicks’ roster right now is Kemba Walker. He has not played badly for them, but at the same time, he has played nowhere close to an All-Star-level and has been outplayed by guys like Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley and Alec Burks, hence why he has been taken out of the rotation.
There is a chance that the Knicks will turn to Kemba again and have him play in some capacity, but there is a much better chance of them looking to move him ahead of the trade deadline this season.
Any team that would be bringing in Kemba Walker would be adding a liability to their roster, but the Minnesota Timberwolves definitely have a need for some extra depth in their backcourt right now.
D’Angelo Russell always seems to be “dinged” up and while he is productive when healthy, he is always missing some games here and there.

Patrick Beverley has been a key secondary guard for this team, but he too has been hurt this season and outside of him and Russell, the Timberwolves do not really have anyone else to turn to in their backcourt.
In Minnesota, Kemba Walker could be utilized as a secondary point guard in their backcourt, giving the Timberwolves a former All-Star to bring in off of the bench.
Making just $8.7M this season and then being under contract for one more season, Walker’s contract would not hang over the heads of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ front-office and maybe he can rekindle some of his past success in a lessened role.

The New York Knicks need some kind of “spark” on their roster right now and while he is not a big name, Malik Beasley could certainly provide them with some much needed scoring. Upgrading their offense was a key point of emphasis for this organization in the offseason and while Fournier has stepped up at times, Walker really has not.
Leveraging him now for Beasley could make a lot of sense for this team, especially since Malik Beasley is a proven catch-and-shoot threat, making it difficult for teams to stay attached to not only him, but Evan Fournier and Alec Burks on the perimeter as well.
