How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls look like one of the best teams in the NBA thus far this season. They currently have a record of 17-10 and are near the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls are off to a great start, but they are lacking some depth in the frontcourt. Starting power forward Patrick Williams is going to miss multiple months with a wrist injury, leaving them dangerously thin at power forward and center.

Nikola Vucevic, who is currently in the league’s health and safety protocols and Tony Bradley are the only rotation players listed at 6’10 or taller. Chicago could use some more size on the roster and Marvin Bagley could help provide that.

Bagley would give Billy Donovan a combo option in the frontcourt that can play either power forward or center. He would provide the team with some offensive punch in the frontcourt and with the second unit.

Chicago is very top-heavy, as their second unit does not produce much offensively. Bagley, who averages 13.9 points per game in his career, would help turn that around. He is also a good rebounder and could thrive as a go-to player on the second unit.

Surrendering Derrick Jones Jr. would diminish some depth on the wing, but they have players such as Troy Brown Jr. that could step into the rotation if need be, along with Alize Johnson. What would be a cause for concern is the future first-round draft pick.

It would be surprising to see Bagley land a first-round pick, even one as heavily protected as this one from the Bulls. If they got in on Bagley negotiations, expect them to try haggling down the draft compensation.
