Jerami Grant – Detroit Pistons
Jerami Grant has suddenly become the hottest name on the trade block across the NBA, which is a bit odd because the 27-year-old forward was just recently ruled out indefinitely because of some torn ligaments in his thumb.
Now in his 8th season in the league, Grant has always been known to be a reliable “3-and-D” type player out on the wing, but since joining the Pistons ahead of last season, he has turned himself into a borderline All-Star talent.
Since the start of last season, Jerami Grant has averaged 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.1 blocks and has shot 42.5% from the floor, 34.4% from three-point range. Detroit is one of the worst teams in the league, but Grant is their leader and the current face of their rebuild, along with No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham.
It does seem like a long-shot to believe that the Pistons would trade Grant, but his value is at an all-time high right now and he will be entering the final year of his contract next season. Now would be the best time for them to capitalize on his value, which is why the Pistons have been receptive to trade offers coming their way for Grant.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Lakers Have Discussed Russell Westbrook Trade With Two Teams
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers and the Trail Blazers are two teams that have inquired about Jerami Grant’s availability and it would make sense for the Lakers to want to target him.
Not only is he another scoring weapon they can turn to, but he is only under contract for one more season and is a “3-and-D” type player that they can count on to make plays on either end of the floor.
The Lakers need this kind of talent on the wing and giving up Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn and others for Grant is a move that Lakers’ GM Rob Pelinka would be open to.
The Los Angeles Lakers should absolutely pursue this trade with the Detroit Pistons, but it is highly unlikely that they would be able to get a deal done for Grant. Talen Horton-Tucker is a great young talent that shows a lot of promise for the future, but Kendrick Nunn and a veteran like Wayne Ellington or Kent Bazemore may not prove too useful for a rebuilding team like the Pistons.

Jerami Grant is the best trade option the Lakers could try to target ahead of the trade deadline this year, but as of right now, there are other teams in a better position to land him given the trade assets they have available to leverage.
