Why This Trade Makes Sense For The New York Knicks

On the other side of this trade, the New York Knicks should view this option as a no-brainer move if it presents itself. New York needs shooting and they need perimeter defense. Making this deal brings in both of those qualities.

Justin Holiday has played a huge role for the Pacers so far this season. He has averaged 9.9 points to go along with a 35.7 three-point percentage. Holiday is a much better shooter than that number shows, especially when he’s able to spot up instead of having to come off of screens to shoot as he has with Indiana this season.

As for Torrey Craig, the Knicks would be getting a defense-first player who can shoot and score. Craig has struggled to find a consistent role with the Pacers, but has scraped together averages of 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds. He is the kind of bulldog mentality player that every championship contender needs to have.

Both guys would be able to come in and immediately make an impact. New York has to make a move or two, but they don’t want to blow up the roster to make that happen. Being able to get these guys with just Knox and Grimes being moved would be an ideal situation.
