Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Indiana Pacers

Taking a closer look at the Indiana Pacers’ side of things, there are very clear reasons why this trade would make sense. First of all, they would be getting younger, adding draft capital, and giving young players a chance to rebuild themselves with a change of scenery.

Kevin Knox II has had a rough start to his NBA career with the Knicks. He has averaged 8.3 points through his first four years thus far, which is well below what the expectations were for him. Perhaps playing for a new team could help him turn things around and get his career back on track.

As for Grimes, the Pacers would be bringing in a young guard to build with moving forward. Grimes may never develop into a starter, but he could be a very solid depth piece. He has averaged 3.6 points and has shot 46.9 percent from the three-point line in a very limited role as a rookie.

Kevin Pritchard and company have to make a tough decision. Trading Justin Holiday and Torrey Craig would also open up even more minutes for guys like Knox and Grimes to get minutes, along with Chris Duarte.

Should they opt to make some big moves, trading Holiday and Craig would be a no-brainer. Indiana would also be saving money with this move, which would have to be of interest in a rebuild.
