Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?

If the New York Knicks are going to be moving forward with Kemba Walker out of their rotation, then there’s no reason for them to keep him long-term. Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, and Immanuel Quickley have all played well for New York this season and quite honestly, they might as well try to get as much value as they can for Walker now.

At 31-years-old and quickly regressing, Kemba Walker’s best years in this league may be behind him at this point, which is something New York really has to consider.

Although trading for JaMychal Green does not present a much better future for the Knicks, they can always incorporate other teams into this trade as mentioned before.

Even if they decided to keep Green, he would supply them with more frontcourt depth, which they have been lacking at times this season due to injuries. Mitchell Robinson, Taj Gibson and Nerlens Noel have all missed time, so maybe keeping JaMychal Green would not be a terrible idea.

For the Knicks to get back to their top form, they are going to have to tighten things up defensively. Kemba Walker has not helped them on defense or offense really, hence why moving him out of the rotation for the moment makes sense.

He really has not brought anything new to this team in terms of production and while he has had some great scoring nights, he has also had nights where he is a major liability for 20-plus minutes out on the floor.

The Knicks cannot afford this kind of inconsistency this season, especially since the Eastern Conference is packed with playoff contending teams.

A move needed to be made and Tom Thibodeau decided taking Walker out of the rotation is what is best for this team to try and win games immediately.

As a result, we should expect the New York Knicks to look at potential trades for the former All-Star guard moving forward.
