Golden State Warriors

Players Currently Out: Klay Thompson (Achilles), James Wiseman (Knee), Andre Iguodala (Knee)

Tied with the Phoenix Suns for the best record in the NBA at 20-4, the Golden State Warriors are looking like the dynasty they were just a few years ago when they made the NBA Finals in five consecutive years.

Steph Curry is the early frontrunner for the league’s MVP award, Draymond Green is one of the favorites for Defensive Player of the Year and this Warriors team not only has depth, but they are one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Golden State is finding all of this success on the floor and both Klay Thompson and James Wiseman have yet to step foot on the court yet this season! Starting with Wiseman, the former No. 2 overall pick is currently working his way back from a torn meniscus suffered on April 10.

Wiseman had been progressing nicely and the Warriors have been careful with their approach to working him back to full-speed, but he has yet to be cleared for scrimmaging and head coach Steve Kerr stated recently that their young center would not return until sometime in 2022.

Nothing has been said in regards to if James Wiseman has suffered a setback in his recovery process or if the Warriors are just being extremely careful before the ramp up his recovery program, but nothing but good things have been said about his rehab and Golden State is optimistic that he will be back on the floor sooner than later.

As for Klay Thompson, he has not played since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals due to an ACL tear and an Achilles tear in back-to-back years, but it is very realistic that we could see him return to the floor sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

Obviously he will not be seeing 30-plus minutes as soon as he gets back, but Thompson could see a handful of minutes either ahead of the Warriors’ Christmas Day game in Phoenix or he could make his debut against the Suns then.

Klay Thompson has been cleared for a “full-go” so at this point, his status is not only up to how he feels personally, but how the Warriors training and medical staff feel. His green light is coming and we will get to see if Klay can be the same former All-Star he once was a couple of seasons ago.

Andre Iguodala has not played since mid-November due to a knee injury, but the Warriors are not concerned that he is going to miss more time. In fact, Steve Kerr has stated that he could return as soon as the Warriors’ game against the Trail Blazers on December 8.

At full-strength, the Golden State Warriors are going to be an even better team than they already are, which is scary for the rest of the NBA to think about. The Warriors have a real chance to make it back to the NBA Finals this season, but everything revolves around if they can remain healthy for the entire season, not just the first-half.
