Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Raptors?

At this point any move the Toronto Raptors make involving Goran Dragic makes sense. They need to try and get any kind of value they can for him and in this outlined deal with the Mavericks, they would get just that.

Maybe Dwight Powell is someone they look to trade to a third team in this deal for a future second-round pick or two, but Dorian Finney-Smith is absolutely a guy who can contribute right away in Toronto.

Being able to play on the wing and guard virtually any position, Finney-Smith offers a lot of upside defensively and gives the Toronto Raptors a little bit more depth. Right now, Toronto ranks dead-last in the league in bench points per game, which is why they are going to have to make some small trades to add secondary talent ahead of the trade deadline if they are to be successful during the second-half of the season.

Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and the starters can only take this team so far and currently 11-13, the potential of this team making the playoffs is definitely in question. Dorian Finney-Smith gives them more depth, he can contribute right away and even if they lose him in the offseason, at least they got his production from moving Goran Dragic.
