Would this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have sent away plenty of players in the past. This is so sam Presti could load up on draft picks in order to make another deal down the line.

Wood is the type of big man that would pair well with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He could score in many ways on the floor and is an elite rebounder on both ends. Gilgeous-Alexander is the type of point guard that can help his big man since he has a combination of dynamic scoring ability and passing talent.

Well, this is not a move that would get Oklahoma City back to the postseason right away, it would give them a duo to build around moving forward. That is an important thing in today’s NBA and something that the Thunder have left for years.

What is not a long-term player in Houston, another team could benefit. The Thunder should take a long look in order to balance the floor on both ends.

The Thunder appear to be closer to the play-in tournament than they are from being a contender for the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. A deal of this kind would help to win now by addressing their greatest short-term weakness as Christian Wood would take over as the franchise-center.
