Jaylen Brown – Boston Celtics

Jaylen Brown had his best season in the league last year with the Celtics and the former 3rd overall pick does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Brown has not played since November 4 and will likely remain out until Boston’s upcoming 4-game homestand against the Lakers, Thunder, Rockets and Nets.

The All-Star wing has told reporters that he feels fine and is getting close to being ready to get back out on the court with his team, but is going to be held out until he is 100% ready to go. Due to Jaylen Brown dealing with hamstring injuries in the past, the Celtics are not going to rush him back out on the floor, even though they have struggled to begin the year.

Earlier this month, there were some reports that the Boston Celtics were interested in Philadelphia’s All-Star Ben Simmons, but that the 76ers were only willing to talk about trades involving Simmons if Jaylen Brown was going to be involved in the deal.

Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens has since talked about these rumors and has shot down the possibility of the team trading Jaylen Brown.

I just walked up to Jaylen and said, ‘your name is all over the place as you know. Obviously, from our standpoint, you’re a Celtic and obviously a guy that we think exceptionally high of. Nothing doing,” Stevens said during his appearance on Toucher & Rich at 98.5 The SportsHub. “I just wanted to make sure that he has that peace of mind.”

With no plans to trade Jaylen Brown, it is very safe to say that the Celtics are going to be keeping their two All-Stars on the roster.

The idea of trading Brown is definitely fascinating and the Celtics could definitely answer some calls of teams inquiring about him, but there are no real intentions of trading him at this moment.

At full strength, the Celtics believe that they have a team that is capable of making a run back to the Eastern Conference Finals and they may be right. Tatum and Brown are two high-level, young talents and with a solid blend of complementary talents in Marcus Smart, Dennis Schroder, Al Horford, Robert Williams III and Josh Richardson, Boston is definitely going to be a tough team to face later in the year.

Maybe Boston will look to be aggressive at the trade deadline this year with all of the trade exceptions they have, but we should not expect Jaylen Brown to be on the move anytime soon. He is their second-best player next to Jayson Tatum and at 25-years-old, he is one of the most valuable players in the league right now in terms of extended long-term value to this team.

Verdict: Stays with Boston through 2021-22 season
