Marvin Bagley III – Sacramento Kings

Prior to last night’s game against the Detroit Pistons, Marvin Bagley III had played just 10 minutes in one game this season. The former second overall pick has no desire to play in Sacramento anymore and this is because the Kings have tarnished their relationship with their young forward.

They tried trading Bagley at the trade deadline last season without consulting him first and after failing to move him, the Kings once again failed to trade Bagley this past offseason due to their asking price. Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that the Kings are wanting “first-round value” for Marvin Bagley, something many teams around the league are not willing to relinquish at this time.

Prior to the start of this season, Sacramento did not show any willingness to negotiate a long-term deal with Bagley ahead of the extension deadline, resulting in him and his agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, growing even more frustrated with this organization.

Marvin Bagley is going to be traded this season and while the Kings may draw this out until closer to the trade deadline, it is no coincidence that he played his most minutes this season in Detroit.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Kyrie Irving’s Plans For Nets Could Be Impacted By NYC Mayor

Over the weekend, NBA Insider Marc Stein reported that the Detroit Pistons have had interest in Bagley for a while now and that they are continuing to target him as a potential trade asset.

“While in Detroit, I was advised to put the Pistons down as a team to watch as a trade suitor for the Kings’ disgruntled Marvin Bagley III… The Pistons, though, have been tracking Bagley since last season, league sources said — long before the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 draft fell completely out of favor in Sacramento.”

With Kelly Olynyk now out indefinitely due to a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, the Pistons are weak in their frontcourt, hence why they could look to make a trade for Bagley in the near future.

Ultimately, with December 15 coming up, it seems likely that the Pistons will be able to get a deal done should they actually have interest in the young forward.

Josh Jackson, Hamidou Diallo, Trey Lyles and even Kelly Olynyk are all possible trade options for the Pistons to send to the Kings in a deal for Marvin Bagley III. Whether it is in December or closer to the trade deadline, Marvin Bagley will be dealt and he is going to end up on the Detroit Pistons.

Verdict: Traded to Pistons
