Jaylen Brown — Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have begun the season 5-6 under first-time head coach Ime Udoka and while they have a really solid looking roster, they have yet to put everything together. This team has the potential to surprise many across the league come the second half of the season, but they are still trying to figure out who they are early on in the year.
Jaylen Brown currently being sidelined due to a hamstring injury is not making things better either! The All-Star wing has dealt with some hamstring issues in past NBA seasons and he injured his right hamstring against the Miami Heat on November 4.
He has missed two games since injuring this hamstring and Ime Udoka said on Monday that the team would be without Jaylen Brown for 1-2 weeks. “He’ll be assessed, timeline looking like a week or two right now — hamstring strain,” Udoka told reporters. “We’ll know more in a week or two, but right now he’s out for a week or two. That’s a broad timeline.”
Jaylen Brown addressed this injury on Wednesday and stated that he still has some tightness, but is “without pain,” which is very good news for the Celtics’ star.
“I think the concern is because, maybe a year ago, before the season shut down, I had the same injury. So I just re-injured the same injury,” Jaylen Brown stated. “So, that was the concern. But as far as hamstring injuries go, I think this is the lightest one that I’ve had.”

Hamstring injuries are really touchy injuries to play around with because unfortunately, they just take time to heal. They are not something that can be rushed and if the team/player tries to push things along, they risk the injury worsening and then the player being out for a longer period of time during the NBA season than he initially would be.
Until Jaylen Brown is without the discomfort and tightness, the Boston Celtics seem more than comfortable waiting this out. Guys like Dennis Schroder, Marcus Smart, and Josh Richardson are all more than capable of stepping up in the meantime next to Jayson Tatum as the team is without Brown and Boston knows that they need their second All-Star healthy if they are to become a force in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics have games against the Bucks, Cavaliers twice, Hawks, and Lakers over the course of the next week, so they will definitely have their work cut out for them without Jaylen Brown.
It is possible that Jaylen Brown could return for Boston’s home game on November 19 against the Lakers, but it really depends on how he feels over the course of the next week and if he is able to do any on-court activities without any restraints.

This is not a long-term injury for Jaylen Brown, but definitely a situation to monitor the rest of this NBA season, especially since Brown has had a history with hamstring injuries over the last year or so.
