Key Players Need To Get Back On Track
Just getting back in the right mental space can do a lot for guys around the league, which is why we should not be hitting the panic button yet in Atlanta.
However, Atlanta does need to figure something out in terms of getting a new identity this year. Obviously, the things that made them a great team last year are not necessarily working so far this season, so getting new guys involved and having someone else step up into a bigger role will be key for them moving forward.
“We need a spark,” head coach Nate McMillan said last week, per Hawks’ reporter Sarah K. Spencer. “We need some energy to lift us, and we need some guys that’ll go out there and defend… We need two-way players, and not all of your energy focused on one end of the floor.”

Cam Reddish has definitely been a key spark for the Hawks offensively and with the recent struggles of Collins, Bogdanovic, Huerter, and Gallinari, it is very easy to see why this Hawks team is struggling right now.
They are a middle-of-the-pack offense team right now in the Eastern Conference, but they do currently rank 5th in the league in a three-point shooting percentage (36.6%). The three-point shot is once again going to be instrumental in Atlanta’s success this season and as guys settle down and get back home to play in Atlanta, this team will begin to look like the Eastern Conference championship contender we saw a season ago.
The Hawks’ record may make them look like a bad team in the NBA right now, but at some point, this team is going to explode and go on a seven, eight, possibly even more-game run in which they look like one of the more dominant teams in the league.
