Los Angeles Lakers: Trade Target – Kenrich Williams (OKC)

Kenrich Williams is not a game-changing talent, but he is a consistent bench player that has done nothing but produce since joining the Thunder last season. Seeing as they have no available cap space nor tradable contracts, the Los Angeles Lakers are kind of stuck in terms of who they can target via trade, that is unless they are willing to trade Russell Westbrook at some point this season.

They do however have a $2.6M trade exception that was created when they traded Marc Gasol to the Memphis Grizzlies this past offseason. At some point, they could look to utilize this TPE and bring in a player like Kenrich Williams, who is only owed $2M this season and $2M next season, with his contract being non-guaranteed for both years.

Since joining the Thunder, Williams has been really solid and has played many different roles for this team. In 66 games with OKC last season, the 26-year-old wing averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and shot 44.4% from three-point range.

One of the biggest problems right now for the Los Angeles Lakers is that they do not have much depth on the wing thanks to multiple injuries. LeBron James, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Trevor Ariza are all out right now and as a result, the Lakers do not have many options to turn to for production.

Obviously, when this team is fully healthy, they will be one of the better teams in the Western Conference, but right now, they just need to find some ways to win games. As mentioned before, Kenrich Williams is not the deciding factor for his team in terms of winning or losing games, but he is a steady bench force that you know what you are going to get from.

Between being able to knock down multiple three-pointers a game to being a reliable wing defender, Williams does a little bit of everything to make his team better, which is why at a low cost, he would be a nice fit with this contending Los Angeles Lakers team.
