Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
At this point, Marvin Bagley III is not serving much of a purpose in Sacramento with the Kings and it is likely that he will be moved. This has been clear since the offseason but the Kings did not make a move heading into the year. Now that the season has started, they can take their time in looking for the right deal. If that is the Lakers, they could get an intriguing player back.
Bagley has played in just one game for the Kings this season and his number was called due to Moe Harkless being sidelined due to injury. He played 10 minutes and logged two points and four rebounds. It is unlikely that he gets much more time in Sacramento.
The immediate benefit is the front office landing another young player for Bagley III. Talen Horton-Tucker is a prospect that the Lakers have liked since he came out of college.
Horton-Tucker has shown plenty of potential and is continuing to improve on both ends. This is the type of player that the Kings need as they continue to rebuild. Horton-Tucker fits into the plan longer term than Bagley does at the moment.

After taking a player second overall, a franchise is expecting that player to be a star. Bagley III took a bit longer and now that he is nearing the end of his rookie deal, is a trade piece. Horton-Tucker seems like a fair return for Bagley and could produce right away in an extended role.
