Miami Heat Receive: F Kenrich Williams
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F KZ Okpala, DEN/PHI 2022 2nd Round Pick (Less Favorable of the two, via MIA)

Since being drafted 32nd overall in 2019, KZ Okpala really has not played much for the Miami Heat and is nothing more than an “end-of-the-bench” type of player for them right now.

If players get injured, he will be thrown into their rotation this year, but overall, Okpala is a player the Heat will look to trade if they can get something for him.

Seeing as the Thunder are rebuilding and looking to try to find anything in young talents, they could be willing to take a risk on KZ Okpala, especially since Kenrich Williams is a player they will look to leverage and since they get a draft pick out of this deal.

GM Sam Presti has done a fantastic job of building a young core in Oklahoma City over the years and he has not been afraid to move pieces around to acquire draft picks.

In fact, the Thunder have a total of 35 draft picks through the 2028 NBA Draft, giving them plenty of opportunities to add high-level talents over the next several years.

Being able to add another immediate draft pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, as well as a young talent on the wing for Williams is definitely something they could consider.

Kenrich Williams is definitely not an “x-factor” type of player and he would not be the difference in the Heat potentially making the NBA Finals this season, but he would provide some stability on their bench and Williams would play the role of an experienced player they can turn to for “3-and-D” play on the wing.

Adding more role players and some more shooting depth could go a long way in the Heat being a legit title threat this season, hence why they could look to leverage KZ Okpala for a player like Kenrich Williams.
