Would this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?
Right now, there are not a lot of reasons for the Brooklyn Nets to keep Kyrie Irving. He does not help much off the court as this is a team looking to win a championship. The Nets already made one decision and another big one could be coming soon.
The Nets said that they will not offer Irving a contract extension. Kevin Durant was the top priority this offseason but it was assumed that Irving and James Harden would be next. Now, Irving will not be in Brooklyn long-term.
There might not be much value around his name at this point so the Nets should look to make a move in the first half of the season before it is all gone.
When he plays, Irving is elite but that is the problem. He has found reasons to not step on the floor over the last two years in Brooklyn. When looking at the return, the Nets could still get some rotation-ready players along with draft capital.
