Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Christian Wood
Houston Rockets Receive: F Miles Bridges, C Mason Plumlee, 2023 First Round Pick (via NOP — Lottery Protected), 2024 First Round Pick

There was genuine optimism surrounding Christian Wood when the Houston Rockets made the decision to sign him last offseason. He showed flashes in the past but just didn’t quite get a large enough opportunity to showcase his abilities.

Wood has quickly turned into a big-time contributor in the post. He is a strong player on both ends on the floor and would benefit a team looking for a big man.

Wood would be the centerpiece of the deal going back to Charlotte and would give them some new depth right away. The team has sorely needed a long-term answer in the frontcourt to anchor the middle but has yet to find that particular talent yet.

In return, Charlotte could part ways with the likes of Miles Bridges and Mason Plumlee. This will allow them to keep their core intact as they improve the frontcourt. Bridges is a high-flying wing that can fit in with the young Rockets team looking to add more long-term pieces.

Charlotte can also give up some first-round draft capital, including some from New Orleans. The team has already sent out its 2022 first-round pick — limiting the potential assets that can be offered.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around Christian Wood would impact both the Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets.
