Would this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
The Detroit Pistons have a clear direction and that was made even more clear when they landed Cade Cunningham in this year’s draft. The Pistons have a young core to rely on moving forward and this is how they have decided to rebuild. There have been plenty of moves coming out of Detroit and there could be more soon.
Grant is the clear trade piece at this point. Last season, the Pistons moved both Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin in hopes of getting younger and sending away the veteran players.
Grant could be next on the list. With two years left on his deal, Grant is a player that might not be part of the plan. The Pistons could add some more help elsewhere. This is a trade that would have to wait until March because Vanderbilt was re-signed by the Timberwolves using Bird rights with a 20% raise in salary.
The defensive versatility that Grant brings to the table is helpful but Vanderbilt can also bring a real impact in his own right. Meanwhile, Beasley is a highly efficient scoring threat that can thrive alongside Cunningham.
