Cade Cunningham – Detroit Pistons
Drafted first overall this year, Cade Cunningham is the player that is expected to lift the Detroit Pistons from the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, but his long-awaited debut will have to wait, as he will miss the Pistons’ Opening Night home game against the Chicago Bulls.
Coming out of Oklahoma State, Cade Cunningham is an extremely lengthy guard who is not necessarily the most athletic or best scoring player from this 2021 draft class, but he is definitely the most NBA-ready.
His style of play is just so laid back and Cade Cunningham makes everything look so effortless on the floor that he winds up making those around him better.
The rookie has been dealing with a “minor ankle sprain” that he suffered about three weeks ago in training camp and he still does not feel 100% yet.
“He’s pretty much day to day, but we need to ramp him up and get some conditioning going and get him acclimated to going full speed at five-on-five,” General Manager Troy Weaver said on the “Stoney & Jansen Show” on WXYT-FM 97.1 The Ticket the other day. “Hopefully we’ll get him back sooner than later, but I would anticipate hopefully seeing him when we get back off the road.”

The Pistons opened up their season against the Chicago Bulls without Cade Cunningham, but then they will be on the road for three consecutive games before coming back to Detroit on October 30 to take on the Orlando Magic.
Seeing as he has been practicing and the Pistons are optimistic that he is alright to play, it is very safe to assume that Cade Cunningham will be making his NBA debut on October 30, if not sooner.
