What the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for

Philadelphia has wanted and still wants an All-Star-level player in return for Ben Simmons, which puts Sacramento in a tough spot because their only All-Star-level talent is De’Aaron Fox. If they were to trade him, the whole foundation of the Kings would be broken and they would be forced to rebuild yet again.

Ben Simmons does actually want to be traded to a California team, so Sacramento could make the most sense since the Warriors, Lakers, and Clippers do not seem to be interested in finding a way to make a trade with Philly, but the Kings have been unwilling to discuss any deal that involves De’Aaron Fox.

Last season, Fox averaged 25.2 points, 7.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and shot 47.7% from the floor, solidifying his spot as one of the best point guards in this league. It is very clear to see why the 76ers would want him too, as pairing Fox with Embiid could create a fantastic “one-two” scoring punch in the Eastern Conference, one that could even punish teams in transition given the athleticism both players possess.

If they were to offer up Fox, the 76ers would get a deal done right away, but the Kings seem to want to deal Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III instead. Sure, this does bring some value to the 76ers, but neither Hield nor Bagley have that “it” factor to make this team a real championship threat.

Plus, Bagley’s contract is up after this season and the 76ers would most definitely not want to spend a ton of money to keep him, especially if they were to take on Hield’s large contract. De’Aaron Fox is No. 1 on the Philadelphia 76ers’ “wants” list if they were to try to strike a deal with the Kings and Tyrese Haliburton seems like he is in the No. 2 spot on this list.

Halliburton is only 21-years-old and is a combo-guard coming off a very impressive rookie season. He can score, facilitate and possesses great potential to be a two-way factor in this league, which is why again, the Kings do not want to trade him.

No matter who they look at as a potential trade partner, the 76ers seem to be facing a tough situation in Ben Simmons trade talks because team’s not willing to give up their best players. Simmons is a 3x All-Star, but at the same time, a lot of work still has to be done with his game.

Unless they are getting De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton, the 76ers seem unwilling to strike a deal with Sacramento, even if they were to get Buddy Hield and/or Marvin Bagley III in a trade.
