How This Trade Impacts Houston Rockets
Building a package for Ben Simmons isn’t an easy task for any franchise. For the Houston Rockets, it is rather challenging because they are lacking impact pieces that the Philadelphia 76ers are seeking to remain contenders.
In this hypothetical trade, the Rockets build as good of a package as they can that doesn’t include the salary of John Wall. It very well could be the best that they have to offer, but it likely falls short of what other teams can put on the table in trade negotiations.
Arguably the biggest selling point in this deal is the 2022 first-round pick. That could be a valuable asset as the Rockets very easily could be a high lottery pick team next year even with Simmons on the roster.
As for acquiring Simmons, the Rockets would love to. He would give them another star to build around in the post-James Harden era. He was someone the organization targeted last season before trading Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a four-team deal that the Rockets frankly blew.

Having a chance to essentially hit the redo button and acquire Simmons would be a win for the organization. It is certainly a long shot that they will be his ultimate landing spot, as this trade package is likely not the best one that the 76ers will receive.
However, odder things have happened and there are some intriguing pieces that would be heading to the City of Brotherly Love in this scenario.
