Kris Dunn – Memphis Grizzlies

General manager Zach Kleiman has been very busy flipping pieces around this offseason for the Memphis Grizzlies and he has done an excellent job of assembling young pieces on this roster around future All-Star Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies have a very bright future and they could absolutely be a playoff team once again, but they may not be done making moves just yet.

Kris Dunn was a player Memphis acquired in a trade with the Boston Celtics, but the former Top-5 pick may not be someone the Grizzlies view as an asset in their backcourt. Morant is the starting point guard for this team and both Tyus Jones and De’Anthony Melton are his back-ups in the backcourt, so Dunn could be outnumbered here.

Since being drafted 5th overall in 2016, Kris Dunn has averaged 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and has shot 42% from the floor, but the Grizzlies are his fourth team since being drafted. The defensive-minded point guard can definitely still make a difference off the bench for a team in this league, but his outside shooting is a liability.

Having guards who can shoot is a huge commodity in this league and Dunn for his career has only shot 30.5% from three-point range. He has never been a big offensive threat and as a result, he could wind up being waived by Memphis as the Grizzlies look to cut down their roster size ahead of the season.
