Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon, G/F Kenrich Williams, G Ty Jerome, IND 2022 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), IND 2023 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to PHI)
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: G/F Jeremy Lamb, F Paul Reed, MIA 2022 2nd Round Pick (via IND), MIA 2025 2nd Round Pick (via IND)

Going back to the idea of sending Malcolm Brogdon to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Pacers could likely get the Oklahoma City Thunder easily involved in this trade. GM Sam Presti is always willing to take on contracts of veteran players and add draft picks for the Thunder to play around with, which is why they could be interested in bringing in Jeremy Lamb for future compensation.

Plus, Oklahoma City is currently under the salary cap floor of about $102M for the 2021-22 season and they need to find ways to add more salaries to their roster. Bringing in Jeremy Lamb definitely makes things easier for this team in terms of getting to that $102M floor.

Kenrich Williams and Ty Jerome are not flashy pieces for the 76ers to add in a trade for Simmons, so they could wind up being re-routed somewhere else in this deal to a fourth team, but this trade does give the Sixers some depth.

Williams emerged as a key “3-and-D” rotation player for the Thunder last season and Jerome has been a really reliable three-point shooter to this point in his early career, as he has shot 85-218 (39%) to this point in his career.

Brogdon coming into Philly gives the 76ers a reliable point guard on both ends of the court and both Williams and Jerome would round out their bench with two reliable perimeter threats, giving the 76ers, a team that ranked 11th in the league last season in three-point shooting percentage, two guys who are more than capable of shooting 40-plus percent from deep off-the-bench.

If the Pacers are willing to trade Malcolm Brogdon for Ben Simmons and the 76ers are willing to talk about this deal, then we should expect to see some other teams involved. Not only will the Sixers want to add some more talent to their roster other than Brogdon, but the Pacers will also look to move Jeremy Lamb while they can and while the contracts/financials line up with one another.

Who knows what they can get for Lamb at this point, but if they can get another key rotational player in addition to grabbing Simmons, then we could be looking at an Indiana Pacers squad that can not only make it back to the playoffs, but be a very strong scoring team in the paint given their size and a strong defensive team given that Simmons, Warren, and Turner all possess great skills defensively at their respective positions.

It definitely will not be easy for the Pacers to pull off a trade with the 76ers revolving around Ben Simmons, but if they are truly invested in what the 3x All-Star could potentially do for them moving forward, then Kevin Pritchard and this Indiana front-office could look to go “all-in” seeing as they have the capability and trade assets to put together a lucrative deal for Simmons.
