Sacrifices Will Be Made

Pretty much since he rejoined the Cavaliers ahead of the 2014-15 season, LeBron James has had to do every last thing for his teams in order for them to succeed and have a chance at making the NBA Finals.

All of these minutes and all of these seasons have definitely taken a toll on LeBron to this point in his career, even if he is in great shape. He is older now and if the Los Angeles Lakers are to win a title this season, James is going to have to be healthy and not tired heading into the playoffs. 

By having Russell Westbrook as an explosive, triple-double-like threat every single night he takes the court, LeBron James will not have to exert as much energy as he does every single time he plays, leaving him refreshed and charged up for the playoffs. 

Many have said that this trio of Westbrook-Davis-James is not going to work since they are all “ball-hogs” but the more and more you think about this group, the more this move really makes sense for the Lakers.

Anytime you have a chance to put together a team with three All-Stars, you take that opportunity as a general manager and Rob Pelinka is not a new executive in any way. He knows what he is doing and in fact, this was not even a move that envisioned. 

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were the ones who wanted Russ to join Los Angeles and they made sure to sit down and talk with him during the Fourth of July weekend earlier in the offseason so they could sort through the logistics of how this group could work together.

If LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook are all willing to sacrifice in their own ways, then there is no reason why the Lakers cannot contend for their 18th championship in team history, which would be a new NBA record.

Until we see the Los Angeles Lakers play a few games, it is hard to gauge how things will work with this All-Star trio,but this is nothing new to LeBron James and if we know anything about him, it is that he is going to do everything in his power to make this experiment work.
