Kyrie Irving, James Harden will join Kevin Durant in terms of staying in Brooklyn long-term
The Brooklyn Nets have been a hot topic in the NBA all offseason long not only because they are a championship contender, but most recently because of the vaccine mandate in the NBA and All-Star guard Kyrie Irving not being vaccinated. This is a private matter for Kyrie to sort out, but due to New York City policies, all Nets and Knicks players must be vaccinated in order to play in home games this season.
What will happen with Irving is definitely a key subject to talk about pertaining to the league, but so are the recent comments James Harden made on Media Day. When asked about potential contract extension talks since Kevin Durant just signed a long-term extension with Brooklyn, Harden responded with, “Honestly I’m just taking my time. I’m just going to focus on trying to bring a championship to the city. As far as an extension I’m just being patient with it. I went through a lot last year, you want to make sure I’m in the right mindset knowing long term that ultimately I want to be in Brooklyn for the rest of my career. So it’s no rush and we’re gonna have fun with it.”
At some point, it seems like Harden and the Nets are going to get a deal done to keep him in a Nets uniform long-term and as for Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn seems pretty keen on doing the same.
Recently, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reported that Kyrie Irving’s trade value is “virtually zero,” but one league executive has told NBA Analysis Network that Irving’s name has not been brought up by the Nets at all in regards to trade talks.

The Nets have built one of the NBA’s best trios in the history of the league and they really do want to keep all three of these guys long-term. Harden’s deal will likely get worked out at some point this season and Kyrie’s extension will likely be completed next offseason.
This juggernaut of talent that Brooklyn has assembled is not going anywhere anytime soon and with them all healthy entering the 2021-22 season, the Nets should absolutely be the favorites to win the 2022 NBA Finals.
