The Golden State Warriors came into the NBA offseason looking to make a splash trade. After missing the postseason for two straight years, they want to do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn’t become three.
They ended up not making a blockbuster deal, but there is still time before the regular season begins to swing a deal should they choose to. While they will again challenge for a playoff spot, they could use a little help to remain contenders, especially if Klay Thompson cannot return to form.
Thompson hadn’t played in an NBA game since the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors when he tore his ACL. Preparing for the 2020-21 season, he ruptured his Achilles, meaning he will have more than two years between games played.
Now, Golden State has another issue to navigate. Andrew Wiggins, one of their key pieces, is unvaccinated. With the mandates in place in San Francisco, he will not be allowed to participate in any indoor events the Warriors have unless he gets his vaccine.

Staring down the possibility of not having their starting small forward for half the season, Golden State may look to make a move to shake things up. San Francisco and New York are the only cities currently with these mandates, so the Warriors, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets are the only teams navigating it.
Swinging a trade centered around Wiggins could be what the Golden State Warriors ultimately decide to do, and the Indiana Pacers would present an attractive landing spot for him. Let’s take a look at this hypothetical swap between Indiana and Golden State centered on Wiggins.
