How This Trade Impacts Atlanta Hawks
Cam Reddish is undoubtedly going to have the attention of many teams when he becomes a restricted free agent in the future. The Atlanta Hawks do not have to move him but shuffling the supporting cast while gaining an asset or two could make sense.
Right now, the Hawks appear to be in a solid position as a franchise. Coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance and having no shortage of impactful talents around Trae Young, there’s a lot to like about the trajectory of this team going forward.
The Hawks were able to retain John Collins on a substantial contract in free agency and he will be part of the core going forward. However, having team-controlled depth for the next few years could be a helpful option.
The Hawks would gain a bench frontcourt with a lot of versatility between Onyeka Okongwu and Jalen Smith. Smith can provide a stretch-big skill-set with a shot-blocking impact. Meanwhile, Okongwu can switch frequently on defense.

If the Hawks were to ever face a desire to move one of their larger contracts in the future, having players developing in the second unit could go a long way. Favoring wings over bigs has a real argument but the Hawks did just add Jalen Johnson, too.
