Ty Jerome – Oklahoma City Thunder
Both Thaddeus Young and Marvin Bagley III are bigger names and more impactful players than Ty Jerome, but if the New Orleans Pelicans look to use their $3.8M TPE, Jerome could be a sneaky option for them to pursue.
The former Virginia guard has had to earn a roster spot with the Suns and Thunder over the last two seasons to begin his career, but he did impress many last season with his shooting abilities in Oklahoma City.
In a total of 33 games with the Thunder, Ty Jerome averaged 10.7 points, 3.6 assists and shot 42.3% from three-point range on over 150 attempts. He really did take advantage of his playing time with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out with a foot injury, which is why he could wind up being a key perimeter threat for a playoff team in this league.
If the Pelicans were to trade for him, Jerome would likely be the 10th or 11th guy on their bench and he would not play every night, but having a 40% shooter that they can rely on here and there for production in their backcourt could be huge. As a team, New Orleans shot 34.8% from three-point range last season, which ranked them 26th in the league.

The Lakers and the Wizards were the only two teams that made the playoffs last season after ranking in the bottom ten of the league in three-point shooting, so if the Pelicans actually want to contend for a playoff spot, the odds are telling them to add perimeter shooting.
The additions of Graham, Satoransky, and Murphy will give the Pelicans a boost on the outside, but leveraging a draft pick for Ty Jerome could end up being very worthwhile as well.

Again, Jerome is not a high-level scoring threat and is not really a factor defensively, but he is a strong ball-handler, shooter and a high IQ guard who understands spacing on the floor, which is why a team like the New Orleans Pelicans could show some interest in him.
